Jacqueline Poirier has over 1,500 plates on permanent display in the Ritz-Carlton in Toronto at the hotel’s signature restaurant Toca. “Every place setting in the dining room has a different plate that I have hand-painted”, said Poirier, the hotel’s Resident Artist. With a wide variety of subject matter, including people, places and animals, Poirier says the food-related paintings might be her favorite because they are the most realistic and act as great conversation piece around the table.
